A little trip to Glasgow

Just a quick post, late in the evening. I had the chance to visit a friend in Glasgow today, who kindly took me on a whistle stop tour of disused buildings across the city, that could easily be converted into vertical farms.

It seems that co-location may well be the way forward, and this is something I will be looking at much more in the near future.

Also, an interesting idea came up. My guide mentioned that he found the buildings mostly by looking at the ‘buildings at risk register’. It struck me immediately, that this list, and others like it, could be cross referenced with the local development policies I looked at across the UK. By considering these together, it ought to be possible to find buildings which could be used, in cities with policies more likely to look positively upon such use. So this is something else I will be looking at in more detail in the coming months.

Watch this space!

Looking forward to seeing the results of this, you may be able to visit the council development planners of those who supplied encouraging answers in your request for plans to incorporate sustainability projects!

Yes, that’s a good idea. Definitely worth pursuing! 🙂
